AQUA AURA: The Stone of Atlantis

What happens when you take Clear Quartz and infuse it with GOLD? You get the brilliant, stunning and mystical Aqua Aura. But to me this Gem is more than just a human infused natural crystal. Are any of you familiar with the Disney movie Atlantis? Remember those Ancient beings with the cool face paint and white hair? They wore a blue quartz necklace that belonged to the heart of Atlantis. That stone was the gateway to my fascination and interest in the world of History and Gemstones.

So for this months blog post I have teamed up with local make up artist Bernard Gellel to show off his talents with the brush (go give him a like) and my talent with the wire! Therefore in todays blog post brace yourself to learn more about the Aqua Aura and the Father of all Crystals…QUARTZ!

QUARTZ: The Godfather of Crystals

Before we get to know about Aqua Aura, we need to know where it originates. Below that blue colour was once a clear quartz, so let’s broaden our minds on this beauty. Quartz to crystals is like Odin to the Vikings, the all father, the stone of all stones. Quartz is the stone of light and is a master healer, said to bring visions to its possessor. It comes in many colours and variations. Some of them are:

Smoky Quartz:

which has a darker colour and is said to be coloured by radiation.

Citrine:

a quartz with yellow as its primary colour, said to be coloured by iron.

Rose Quartz:

its colour ranges from a pale pink to a deep rose, may also be transparent or cloudy.

Amethyst:

one of the most famous stones, its colours are usually lilac and purple.

Quartz has been in use for ages, dating back to the age of the Ancient Egyptians. They had found quartz in the Temple of Hathor. The word quartz derives from an old German mining term and was also known to the Greeks as Krystalles, meaning Clear Ice: Quartz is water, turned into ice and ice petrified into stone. (Greeks were so deep)

METAPHYSICAL:

This Gem is said to help strengthen your will power and motivation. It is also said to be the best Gem for battling depression, some have even said that it slows down ageing (I never take mine off)…this magnificent power house is also good for every situation and also cleanses all the other stones.

To break it down, beneath that iridescent blue colour lies one of the worlds most common and famous gemstones…Quartz! So how do we get that colour? Scientists in a lab get the Quartz Crystal, put it in a vacuum and add gold to give it that stunning Aquatic Blue colour. The name Aqua Aura derives from Latin meaning Water Gold; Water because of its ocean blue colour (duh) and Gold because they add gold to it (smart ain’t I?).
