This flamboyant stone comes in many different colours, such as Pink, Clear, Tricolour (known as Watermelon Tourmaline) and also in Green. Green Tourmaline is why this gem got the title of the trickster as in the old days they used to mistake this gemstone for Emerald! In fact its name comes from the word ‘Turmali’ meaning Mixed Precious Stones deriving from Sinhalese. It used to confuse gem dealers from the ancient times, and thus they would not be sure what this coloured stone is!
